๐ Elementals, Vaults and Elemental Seals

โจ The Nature of Elementalsโ
The world of War of Continents is permeated by elemental forces. These forces do not exist merely as abstract magic or passive energy โ they manifest themselves in the form of Elementals.
Elementals are fragments of the worldโs primal elements and concentrated clusters of elemental energy at the same time. They are unstable by nature and constantly seek to return to their native elemental state.
The four elemental types are:
- Air
- Fire
- Water
- Earth
Elementals are indivisible. Their quantity is always measured in whole units and never in fractions.
Although elementals of the same type are considered interchangeable for practical purposes, they are still viewed as individual manifestations of elemental force rather than ordinary resources.
Elementals do not willingly submit to captivity. They resist containment and naturally strive to escape back into the world.
Heroes possess rare abilities that allow them to:
- locate elemental manifestations;
- capture elementals;
- transport them to lands and settlements.
However, successfully obtaining elementals is only the beginning. Preserving them is often far more difficult.
๐บ Elemental Vaultsโ
Each land possesses four independent elemental vessels known collectively as the Vault.
Each vessel is dedicated to storing only one specific element:
- Air Vessel
- Fire Vessel
- Water Vessel
- Earth Vessel
The Vault is traditionally represented as a system of ancient elemental containers capable of temporarily restraining unstable elemental forces.
Despite the sophistication of these vessels, no storage is capable of fully preventing elemental leakage.
Elementals constantly attempt to break free and return to the world. This process is known as Elemental Leakage.
The behavior of elementals inside vessels may be compared to water slowly escaping through the walls of even the finest crafted container. The vessel itself may be exceptionally well made, yet the contained force remains too volatile to hold perfectly.
๐ง Elemental Leakageโ
Elemental leakage is one of the fundamental natural laws of the world.
The more elementals stored inside a vessel, the stronger the pressure exerted on its containment structure and the greater the absolute number of escaping elementals over time.
Leakage is measured independently for each vessel as a percentage of its current contents lost every 24 hours.
For example:
- if a vessel contains only a few elementals, losses remain relatively small;
- if a vessel contains large concentrations of elemental energy, losses increase proportionally.
Because each elemental vessel operates independently, leakage is calculated separately for:
- Air;
- Fire;
- Water;
- Earth.
Elementals that escape from vessels are not destroyed. They return back into the world and once again become part of the living elemental balance of War of Continents.
๐ฎ Elemental Sealsโ
To improve containment stability, lands may strengthen their vessels using Elemental Seals.
Elemental Seals are ancient stabilizing artifacts associated with:
- a specific element;
- a specific rarity tier.
Each seal may only be applied to a vessel of the corresponding element.
Applying a seal permanently improves the vessel and reduces elemental leakage.
However, seals are consumed irreversibly during the process. Once applied, they become part of the vessel itself and cannot be recovered.
Even the most advanced vessels can never eliminate leakage completely. Elemental forces are ultimately impossible to restrain forever.
๐ Seal Progressionโ
Elemental Seals must be applied sequentially according to rarity progression.
The rarity hierarchy is:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary
A vessel cannot immediately receive a higher-tier seal without first stabilizing its structure with previous tiers.
For example:
- a newly created Fire Vessel begins with 70% leakage per day;
- the first applicable improvement is the Common Seal of Fire;
- applying this seal permanently reduces leakage from 70% to 60% per day;
- only afterward may the vessel receive an Uncommon Seal of Fire, followed later by Rare, Epic and Legendary seals.
This progression represents the gradual strengthening and refinement of the vesselโs containment capabilities.
๐งญ Design Philosophyโ
Elementals are not intended to function as traditional consumable fuel.
Instead, they represent unstable elemental catalysts and living concentrations of world energy.
They:
- empower progression;
- enable elemental development;
- participate in upgrades and transformations;
- temporarily amplify systems and structures.
But after fulfilling their role, elemental forces naturally disperse and return to the world once again.
This creates a world where elemental balance is never permanently conquered, only temporarily stabilized.
