World Events, Rumors & Intel

The World Map contains changing conditions that exist independently of what any one player knows. Three related concepts keep public reports separate from verified knowledge.

Rumor

A Rumor is a public, time-bounded report about a World Event. Its marker is placed at the reported location, which may be the Event's actual location or a nearby location.

A Rumor is a lead, not a guarantee. Seeing one does not reserve the Event, prove that it still remains available, or promise a reward. Other players can investigate the same public report.

World Event

A World Event is the actual temporary condition behind the report. Current families include caravan and trade incidents, Elemental disturbances, ancient knowledge, and fortune or lost treasures.

Events appear across stable World Regions so activity is distributed around the Continent. The exact availability changes over time. An Event can expire, be completed, or be cancelled before you act on it.

Knowing about an Event does not capture or reserve it. Current Event families and map artwork describe the kind of opportunity, but do not by themselves define a reward.

Intel

Intel is authorized knowledge about an Event. It can apply to one Profile, the current members of a Guild, or eligible players on a Continent.

Applicable Intel replaces uncertainty in your own map view:

  • a current known Event appears at its actual location with a safe description;
  • the linked Rumor is hidden for viewers to whom that Intel applies;
  • players without applicable Intel can continue seeing the Rumor while it is current.

Intel does not reveal hidden Event properties, audience membership, capture state, or guaranteed rewards. Map filters cannot create or expand Intel.

If an investigation confirms that the reported Event is already completed, cancelled, or expired, safe negative Intel records that nothing remains. That result also hides the linked current Rumor for the investigating Profile. A bounded technical failure that creates no target Intel leaves the Rumor visible under its ordinary rules.

What You Can Do Now

Two kinds of playable Mission can now begin from this knowledge:

  • Rumor Reconnaissance sends one eligible Hero to investigate the exact Event behind a selected Rumor and can discover other current Events nearby.
  • World Event Response Missions send an eligible Hero to act on one of the four current Event families. They can start from an Intel-backed Event or directly from a Rumor.

Reconnaissance is for knowledge only. It does not capture, complete, cancel, or reward the Event. A Response Mission checks availability only when the Hero arrives; an already claimed Event sends the Hero home without spending the Mission cost, while false Rumor coordinates spend the cost without producing a result.
